On December 13th, Gregory Charles Harrass entered his eternal rest following an eight year long battle against necrotizing myopathy and cirrhosis of the liver. He is survived by the love of his life, Kathleen Harrass, their son, Kelly Harrass, and their large cat, Skaar.
At his core, Greg wanted to live a simple life. He loved his family and all he needed was them and his hobbies. Greg was happiest when he was at home watching a game (unless his team was losing of course). He was a true sports enthusiast. It didn't matter if it was baseball, football, hockey, or something else, he was going to watch it. He loved making schedules and planning out things like the games he was watching for the month or the coffee he was going to make in the morning for a week.
He passed on many qualities to his son, but the most important might be an ethos to live a life that makes you happy. Greg couldn't have been happier for Kelly when he found a job at his local comic shop or when he started writing for his favorite wrestling website. Kelly was born a wrestling fan, it was one of the things that Greg and Kathy connected over early in their relationship.
Another thing they built their loving relationship on was their sense of humor. Greg and Kathy (and eventually Kelly) had a seemingly limitless amount of inside jokes between them. Kelly credits his sense of humor to his dad and the times they spent watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 on Saturday mornings as a kid. When Kelly hosted a morning talk radio show in college, Greg listened to every episode from his desk at work or from his car if he was off that day.
Greg and Kathy married in Las Vegas in 1990. They wouldn't make it back to the city until a number of years later, but they made up for that time by packing their trips as full as they possibly could. They both spent quite a bit of time finding new things to do and planning for their next trips. The two of them always had Vegas on the mind and an excitement that never receded. Kathy and Kelly will do their best to bring Greg's level of enthusiasm for the things he loved to their own interests.
The family asks that in Greg's honor you do something that makes you happy. It's what he would have wanted.
