Kevin S. Anderson, 60, of Rapids City, IL, died Friday, December 13, 2024 at his home. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Cremation will take place following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

    Kevin was born June 6, 1964 in Texarkana, TX, the son of Ronald L. Anderson and Elizabeth Barber. He graduated from Riverdale High School in Port Byron in 1982. Kevin married Julie A. Sims on August 13, 1988 in Rock Island. He was a machinist for the past 19 years at Uniparts Olsen Inc. in Eldridge, IA.

    Kevin was a jack of all trades, could fix just about anything, and he had a knack for solving problems. He had a passion for building things, but his greatest enjoyment was his grandkids. He was the most patient and kindhearted man. There wasn’t a game or toy he wouldn’t play with alongside his grandkids. There wasn’t a project he couldn’t make or build. He’d drop anything to help his family and friends. He poured his love, advice, and humor into his family and into everything he did. It didn’t matter if you were his blood or not, he treated all who came through his home as his own.

    He is survived by his wife, Julie Anderson; father, Ronald Anderson; mother, Liz Schatteman; children, Amber (Colin) Girot, Port Byron, Alyssa (Will) Tessendorf, Hillsdale, IL, Angela Anderson, Port Byron, Joshua Anderson, Port Byron; grandchildren, Hunter and Avery Tessendorf, Addison, Hayden and Gunner Girot; and sisters, Winna Pannel and Annette (Joe) Kent, all of Milan, IL. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Nellie “Betty” Barber; paternal grandmother, Audrey Johnston; and paternal grandfather, Clarence “Andy” Anderson.
