James C. Kimmel, 93, Berlin, died December 13, 2024 at Windber Hospice. Born September 29, 1931 in Stonycreek Twp., son of John J. and Catherine (Glessner) Kimmel. Preceded in death by parents, daughter Debra Jean Kimmel, grandson Justin Martin, brothers Jonathan and Robert Kimmel, and sister Phyllis Strawn. Survived by his wife of 70 years, the former Mona Joann Friedline; daughters: Sandra (Robert) Seifert, Barbara (Greg) Walker, and Tammy (Mark) Martin; grandchildren: Bethany (Rob) Ritenour, Jana (Jeff) Musser, Kaitlyn (Travis) Emigh, Madison (Michael) Barndt, and Nicholas and Jacob (Cassy) Martin; and great grandchildren: Ryleigh, Mason, Brody, and Aubree Musser, Ava and Kara Ritenour, Reagan, Axel, and Zechariah Emigh, Harper Barndt, and Darci and Jaxson Martin. He attended Shanksville Stonycreek schools. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and also drove school bus for Shanksville. Jim loved the kids who referred to him as “Mr. Jim.” Member of Berlin Brethren Church where he served as an usher and trustee. Jim was an avid bowler and bowled with the seniors regularly until the age of 92. He also enjoyed going on Benche rides with his dog Lilly, Joann, and his great grandchildren, and riding his scooter to watch the turnpike traffic. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Berlin Brethren Church. Rev.
