Dr. Lois Paulson Kezar, 89, died on December 13, 2024, at Glenaire retirement community in Cary, NC. Prior to moving to Cary, she was a longtime resident of Eden, NC. She was a graduate of South Dakota State University where she was in the honor society and went on to earn her Master’s of Education and Doctorate of Education from UNC-Greensboro.
Dr. Kezar worked for many years as a teacher in multiple public-school systems, and went on to become a reading specialist and program developer. She also served as an adjunct college professor at several academic institutions. She was an active volunteer with the American Association of University Women, Salvation Army, and UNICEF.
She was nominated and selected to be the Dairy Princess serving as the official goodwill ambassador for South Dakota’s dairy industry. Dr. Kezar was an active participant within her church community. She was passionate about supporting women’s rights and animal rescue activities.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Fraze Kezar of Cary, NC; daughter, Kirsten Kezar Lancaster and husband John of Ashburn, VA; and daughter, Sara Katherine Kezar of Garner, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30PM on Thursday at Glenaire in the Spiritual Life Center room. Glenaire is located at 6000 Glenview Garden Place in Cary, NC. There will be a reception immediately following the service.
