Mary Jane Knox, 81, of Roodhouse died Friday, December 13, 2024, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mary Jane was born on May 28, 1943, in Scott County to Harold and Leona (Blackburn) McEvers. She married Jim Knox on November 10, 1963, in Roodhouse and he survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Cary (Kellie) Knox of Hillview, Danny (Laurie) Knox of Martin, TN., Jimmy Joe (Christy) Knox of Kansas City, MO., and daughter Kim (John) Wease of Auburn. 13 grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Knox, Sean (Abbey) Knox, Allyson (Cade) Reno, Adam (Victoria) Knox, Matthew (Sara) Wease, Amanda McClelland, Stephanie (Jon) Baker, Josh (Ashley) Wease, Lyndsey (Clint) Sharp, Cody (Jennifer) Jackson, Jordyn (Andre) Wheeler, Braden Knox, and Ashlee Knox; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Brenda (Larry) Robinson, Debbie McEvers, and sister-in-law, Deanna (Gary) McEvers; and many nephews and nieces.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Steven, Harold, Charles, and Gary McEvers; one sister, Nancy Smith; and a great-grandson, Lucas Baker.
Mary Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roodhouse, where she served as a deaconess for many years. She was an LPN for several years and later became an RN, graduating from Lewis and Clark Community College. She worked at White Hall Hospital, Passavant Area Hospital and for several area physicians.
Mary Jane loved to decorate her home for the holidays, especially Christmas. She was very artistic and had a ceramic shop in her home, where she taught ceramic painting and created beautiful pieces of art. She enjoyed Cardinal Baseball and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She loved having her family at home where she would prepare delicious meals and spoil everyone with her generosity. She was a devoted wife, who adored her husband and was proud of their family and home.
A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Roodhouse on Tuesday, December 17 at 11:00 with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10:00 until the time of service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Roodhouse.
