Roy L. Poe Sr. son of the late Austin Poe and Mary Redding Poe was born on September 4, 1951, in Essex, Missouri and departed this life on December 13, 2024 at the Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 73.
Mr. Poe was a resident of Bloomfield, Missouri and had worked as a plant manager for Monarch Feed Mill for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. For the last several years he enjoyed tinkering in his shop and gardening.
On June 19, 1971, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Diane Baird in Dexter, Missouri. Mrs. Poe survives of their home in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Other than by his wife Cheryl Diane, he is survived by two sons, Roy Poe Jr. of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Austin Poe and wife Laura of Dexter, Missouri; by his daughter, Pamela Ogelvie and husband Mark of Dexter, Missouri; by his brother, Edgar Poe of Dexter, Missouri; and by five grandchildren, Hayleigh E. Holland, Hank Poe, Cade Poe, Waylon Poe, and Griffin Poe.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter in law, Jessica Ann Poe; by his brother, Jim Poe; and by three sisters, Pansy Poe, Margo Trent, and Mary Thornburgh.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Scotty Smothers officiating.
