William E. Buetel, 90, passed away at home with his wife and daughter by his side Friday, December 13, 2024, after succumbing to congestive heart failure.
William was born Thursday, April 26, 1934 to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Scott) Buetel and lived in Akron all of his life and graduated from Garfield High School. He worked for the US Postal Service for 35 years retiring in 1989 and Senior TV for 15 years. He was a faithful member of Blessed Trinity Parish. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He loved spending time with his family and pets, gardening, his Tuesday lunches with dear friends John, Ray, and JC, and watching his favorite sports teams.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his son, Brian E. Buetel; brother, Jim (Rita) Buetel; mother-in-law, Ann Sulak; and sister-in-law, Betty Stefan-Nemet. He is survived by his wife of 62 1/2 years, Marie Ann Buetel; daughter, Kim (Tom) Schaber; grandchildren, Samantha (Christian), Kaitlyn (Justin), Timothy, and William (Saydie); great-grandchildren, Ayden, Dylan, Ethan, Brantley, Georgia, Ryett, Lincoln, Lainey, and Lucy; daughter-in-law, Patti Buetel; brother-in-law, Andrew (Joyce) Sulak; and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 11:00 am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave. with Rev. Father Joseph Warner Celebrant. Visitation will be ONE HOUR PRIOR TO SERVICE TIME at the church. William's final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the US Navy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Trinity Parish or the Summit County Humane Society.
