Ann M. DeVizia Obituary

Ann M. DeVizia, aged 94, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024. Born on January 27, 1930, in West Orange, NJ, Ann lived a life full of faith, family, and dedication.

At the age of 15, Ann moved to Roselle before settling in Matawan, where she was a cherished resident for over 60 years. A devout Catholic, Ann was a dedicated communicant of St. Clement’s Church in Matawan, and later served as a lector and daily communicant at St. Joseph’s Church. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she shared it generously with all who knew her.

Ann built an impressive career with New Jersey Bell Telephone Company (later Verizon), where she worked for over 40 years. She also served as a pastoral clerk at St. Mary’s Church in Colts Neck. During her long and healthy retirement, Ann remained active by volunteering daily at Bayshore Medical Center in Pastoral Care, where her kindness and compassion touched countless lives.

Known affectionately as “Auntie Ann” by her family, she was a devoted aunt whose loyalty, love, and willingness to give her time made her a cornerstone of her family. Her passions included her Catholic faith, her commitment to long daily walks, and her love for the New York Yankees, whom she cheered on with enthusiasm.

Ann is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Patricia Zimmer, Josie Gallo, Christine Ostner, Kathy DeVizia, Mary DeVizia, Ann Leiter, Linda DeVizia, William DeVizia, Kevin DeVizia, Louis DeVizia, Frank DeVizia, Theresa DeVizia, Joan DeVizia, and many cherished great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, Louis and Carmella DeVizia; her brothers, Charles and Louis DeVizia; and her sister, Rosemary DeVizia.

Ann M. DeVizia will be remembered as a beacon of faith, love, and dedication. Her unwavering kindness and steadfast commitment to her family and community leave a legacy that will inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
