Marshall Wayne Hand, 81, of Hickory, passed away, Friday, December 13, 2024, at his home.

Born June 3, 1943 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Kathleen Marshall Hand and Brace Hand.

Wayne was a graduate of Hickory High School and CVCC where he received his degree in architectural drafting. After working for Southern Desk he worked for CBSA until his retirement. He enjoyed watching sports, classic cars and enjoyed his membership in the car club. He and Ruhamah greatly enjoyed traveling extensively together.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruhamah Wilson Hand of the home; step-son, Ralph A. Copeland of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Daniel James Copeland (Maddie) of Concord, NC; sister, Hilda Sherrill (Allen) of Hickory, NC; nephews: Mark Sherrill (Michelle) of New York, NY, Miles Sherrill (Dawn) of Greensboro, NC, Ernest McCrary (Tania) of Brazil, David McCrary (Sandra) of Hickory, NC; niece, Janice King (Martin) of Fort Mill, SC; great-nieces: Lillie and Aubrey Sherrill both of Greensboro, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 28, 2024 in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Gaylord officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
