George M. Bankert, Sr. passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the age of 89.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. and Theresa A. Bankert, and siblings Charles Jr., Miriam, Robert, Jean, Rita, and Marjorie. 

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Seay Bankert; children George Jr., Michael (Norma), Ronnie (Kim), and Wanda Bankert Haskins (Terry); sibling Carolyn (Thurman), 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed spending valuable time with his family. Prior to his retirement, he spent his career in the printing business. He also thoroughly enjoyed spending time reminiscing about his younger years spent in the racing arena with great friends and drivers and talking about the simpler times of his youth. He was a man of great compassion, loyalty, and wisdom and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024 at Bliley's Chippenham. A service will be held the following day, December 23rd, 2024 at 1:00pm at Bliley's Chippenham.
