Martin J. Kovach Obituary

Martin J. Kovach, 75, of Susquehanna Township, passed away Friday December 13, 2024 at Capital Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.


Born May 14, 1949, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Beres) Kovach.


A graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, Marty enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served in his country during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he attended Paul Smith College and North Country Community College. Marty retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of dedicated service.


Marty had a bit of a green thumb and enjoyed working with plants. He also enjoyed watching old movies, listening to music – especially Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and The Beatles – and time spent with his family. Marty was a member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church.


He is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Kathy” (Bird) Kovach and his son, Brendan Kovach.


Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Friday December 20, 2024 at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Samuel E. Houser as Celebrant. Committal Rites with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday December 23, 2024 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery (please assemble in the staging area located behind the Administration Building at 1:45 P.M.)
