Leamon S. "Pete" Thompson Obituary

Leamon, who left us on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the age of 81, born on September 7, 1943, in Alexandria, Louisiana. Leamon was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to many.


Funeral services for Leamon S. “Pete” Thompson will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2024 at New Hope Free Methodist Church, Deville with Brother Beau Edwards and his son-in-law, DeWayne Soulter officiating. Burial will be in Big Island Baptist Cemetery, Deville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.


Pallbearers will be Steve Thompson, Jody Deville, Chris Pentz, Brandon Gilcrease, Kenneth “Bubba” Soulter, and Dylan Thompson.


Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Thompson, Mike Thompson, Greg Thompson, Danny Thompson, Jason Belgard, Johnny Deville, and Richard Beaubouef.


The family requests that visitation be observed at the church Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.


Leamon dedicated his career as a Division Manager with US Tobacco Company, where he not only excelled professionally but also formed meaningful relationships with his coworkers and clients. He believed that work should be enjoyable, and he succeeded in making it so.


Beyond his professional life, Leamon was an avid sportsman who took great joy in golfing, baseball, and softball. He led a life marked by passion, earning many trophies along the way, but his greatest victories came from the time spent with his beloved family. He will be remembered for his love of good home-cooked meals, shared laughter, his love of the Lord Jesus Christ and the warmth he brought to every gathering.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemmie C. and Isabelle Cole Thompson; brother, J.W. Thompson; sisters, Annette McIntire, and Billie J. Belgard.


Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shayne Everett Thompson; son, Anthony Leamon Thompson (Sherry); daughters, Sherrie R. Gilcrease (Terry), Yvette Soulter (DeWayne), and Abigail Thompson; brothers, N.R. Thompson, and L.E. Thompson; sisters, Nita Deville, and Yvonne Pentz; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.
