Ellen K. O'Connor Obituary

Ellen K. O'Connor

Hamlin: Ellen K. O’Connor, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 13, 2024, at the age of 71. Ellen's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, her community, and her faith. She was a cherished daughter to the late Henry and Canice Karnisky, a devoted wife to her husband of 48 years, Brian, and a loving mother to Christine (Joel) MacDonald, Timothy (Jessica) O'Connor, Michael O'Connor, and Mary Elizabeth O'Connor. Ellen's legacy continues through her seven adoring grandchildren: Caitlyn, Ryan, Julia, Jacob, Ella, Brayden, and Logan.

Ellen's siblings, Stephen (Ellen) Karnisky, Linda Malone, Daniel (Linda) Karnisky, and Eileen (John) Ferris, along with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James (Marianne) O'Connor, and several nieces and nephews, will fondly remember her thoughtful presence and loving guidance. She was a cornerstone of her family, always there to support and celebrate every milestone and everyday moment.

Professionally, Ellen served as the Past Director of Volunteer Services for the First Baptist Home, where she poured her heart into supporting both the volunteers and the residents with her characteristic thoughtfulness and care. Her commitment to service extended into her community involvement as a social member of the Hamlin VFW and as a eucharistic minister and sacristan at her church, where she was a steadfast member.

Ellen's interests were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She was a dedicated mother and Nana, always present at concerts, recitals, and athletic events, cheering on her family with pride and enthusiasm. Her skills in the kitchen were unparalleled, and she was known for being a wonderful cook whose dishes were the highlight of many family gatherings and celebrations. Ellen's love for travel allowed her to explore new places, but she always found the most joy in the company of her loved ones and the comfort of her home. Friends and family will remember Ellen as a loyal friend who was always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand. Her faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her thoughtful, loving nature was the cornerstone of her existence. Ellen's ability to bring people together and create lasting memories will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 4-7 pm at Fowler Funeral Home Inc., 340 West Ave., Brockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11 am in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3747 Brick Schoolhouse Rd, Hamlin, NY. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may contribute to the Breast Cancer Coalition in Ellen’s honor.

Ellen's life was a beautiful example of how to live with grace, compassion, and love. She will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and service will endure forever.
