Dan went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 13, 2024.
He was raised in Celoron, NY. After high school he joined the US Navy and went into the submarine service where he served for 4 years. While in the Navy, he was stationed at Pearl Harbor, HI, where he met his future wife (Charlene French). For their wedding they flew back to Ohio from Hawaii and were married on February 27, 1971, at Monterey Baptist Church, Batavia, OH. Dan and Charlene then went back to Hawaii while Dan finished his term in the Navy.
Following discharge from the Navy, Dan and Charlene moved to Jamestown, NY, (which was Dan’s home state) and they welcomed two children (Eric and Erin) during their time in NY. Dan completed his training and became an IBEW Journeyman Electrician where he worked across the US, working his last two years in Alaska before he retired. He loved the outdoors and God’s creation, so living and working in Alaska was a beautiful end to his working career.
Dan, Charlene, and children moved to Ohio (Charlene’s home state) in 1979. He developed his art talent and has painted many beautiful paintings. He loved his Lord, his family, and Christian brothers and sisters, and those who knew him loved him. His walk with the Lord was a priority in his life and faithfully proclaimed his salvation and walk with the Lord to all who met him. Even while enduring chemo treatments he was witnessing to nurses and other people in the infusion center. He worshiped with his Christian brothers and sisters at Monterey Baptist Church for the past 33 years.
We know he is finally out of pain and walking with the Lord and all the many saints who have gone before. He will be deeply missed every day but we hold to the promise in God’s Word that we will be with him again through our faith.
He is preceded in death by his mother (Rose Jennings), step-father (Burdette Jennings), father (Irvin Ross), brother (Allison Ross), father-in-law (John French), mother-in-law (Selma Genton French), daughter (Erin Ross Vonbargen), and grandson (Joshua Ross). Survived by wife (Charlene French Ross), son (Eric Ross), daughter-in-law (Sheila Cress Ross), 2 grandsons (Jacob Ross and Jackie Elliott), and 3 granddaughters (Brandi Ross, Paxton Vonbargen, and Leah McKenzie)
Friends will be received on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 4-5:15pm at the Monterey Baptist Church, 5345 Hutchinson Rd., Batavia, OH, where services will begin at 5:15pm. Military honors will be given by the Southwest VFW Memorial Team at 5:15pm. Pastor Doug Brown officiating.
