Our beloved father and grandfather age 89, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living. Born on January 17, 1935, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Michael and Johanna (Tober) Drzyzga, Jim lived a life full of dedication and service.
Jim attended Bethel Lutheran School and graduated from Bay City Central High School. He furthered his education by earning an associate's degree from Delta College. A proud veteran of the US Army, Jim served during the Korean Conflict with special clearance as a teletype operator.
After his military service, Jim embarked on a long and fulfilling career with the Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1993. He was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bay City and the PLAV Chapter #162. His commitment to his community extended to his part-time work at W.A.Trahan Funeral Chapel, where he compassionately assisted families for over 21 years until his retirement in 2016.
Jim had a passion for photography and loved capturing moments with his family. He was an enthusiast of classic cars and found great joy in providing for his loved ones. Christmas was a special time for Jim, as he cherished celebrating the season with his family. He was a pillar of stability, always ensuring his family felt secure and loved.
Jim married the love of his life, Marilyn B. McLellan, on September 21, 1963. They shared many wonderful years together until her passing on October 20, 2022. Jim's kindness, dedication, and love for his family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved daughter Pamela (James) Drzyzga-Degg, grandson Neil James Klemm and many cousins and relatives. Jim was predeceased by his sister Mary Ann (Richard) Bark.
The Funeral Service for Jim will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 510 W. Ivy Ave., Bay City, MI 48706. Pastor Phillip Baerwolf will officiate and Military Honors, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Honor Guard and the US Army will be held immediately after the service at Zion Lutheran Church. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery next to his wife Marilyn. Family and friends will gather at the church on Thursday, December 19th from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorial donations to Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran School.
