Jim Frank Critten, affectionately known as Sonny, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 13, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 83. Born on December 18, 1941, in Headland, Alabama, to Jennie Lee Vickers and James Crittenden, Sonny was a man whose loving heart and kind spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Sonny was a self-employed individual who dedicated many years to his work with a passion and vigor that was admired by his peers. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need. His presence was a source of joy and comfort, and to know Sonny was indeed to love him.
Though he is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Deborah Ann Critten, his son Johnny Miller, and his sister Mazel Crittenden Johnson, Sonny's legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his loving children, James Critten, Gladis Anderson, Vera Critten, Retha Critten, Jody Critten, Michael Miller, Michelle Ware, Mark Critten, and Jeremy Critten. His memory will also be cherished by his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Described as loving, kind, and friendly, Sonny's character was the epitome of warmth and benevolence. His smile and laughter were infectious, and his ability to connect with people was unparalleled. Sonny's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family and friendship.
