Charlotte- Margarita (Margot) Rios Perez, 96, from Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on December 13, 2024, from natural causes. She was surrounded by her family as she made her final journey from an earthly to eternal life to be with Our Lord.

Margarita was born October 1, 1928, in Aibonito, Puerto Rico to Demetrio Rios and Silvia Perez.

On December 26, 1954, she married Candido Perez in Manhattan, New York. They were blessed with a large family. Her husband passed away in October 2015, shortly before their 61st anniversary.

She has eight surviving children, Diana and Robert Edmunds of Charlotte, NC, Ana and Lee Ratzlaff of Fuquay-Varina, Olga and Julio Feliciano of New London, CT, Lillian and Nicholas Herndon of Charlotte, NC, Aida and Jorge Correa of Kissimmee, FL, Gladys Perez and Gary Replogle of Honomu, HI, Candido Jr. and Denise Perez of Deltona, FL, and Maria Perez of Charlotte, NC.

Margarita has 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and her sister, Maria Rios of Aibonito, Puerto Rico.

Margarita lived in many of the Eastern coast states. In 1974, Margarita moved with her husband and children to Clinton, CT, where they resided for more than 25 years and she retired from Cheeseborough Pond’s after 17 years.

Margarita always said that God found her in His mercy. She was devoted to Our Lord for over 60 years. She shared the love that God gave her. Everyone who met her, received God’s love through her hugs, testimony, and example.

Her home welcomed many family members and friends.

Margarita was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, one brother, Serafin Rios; two sisters, Maria Hadfield and Carmen Rios.

Margarita always said that her spirit was 20 years old, though we will miss her beyond what words can express, we thank God for freeing her spirit to be with him.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 21st in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver St. Angier, NC 27501. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
