Viola Lillian May (Vi) Bartsch, 101, passed away December 13, 2024, at the Onalaska Care Center in Hospice Care. She was born May 10, 1923, in the Town of York, Clark County to Jake and Lillie (Seidelmann) Anderegg. She received her education in a one room school at Pleasant View School, graduating in 1941. She married Delmar Bartsch December 8, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church at Loyal, Wisconsin. Together they farmed in the Town of York, Loyal area until 1968 when they moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin, residing on French Island.

She is survived by three sons: James (Barbara), David (Ruth), and Lynn (Michelle); grandchildren Benjamin (Ginger), Noah, Adam (Kendra), Jason; Shannon (Doug), Heidi; Cassie (Danen) Cooper and James Bartsch; great-grandchildren Elijah, Ava, Emme, and Jacob Bartsch, Trinity and Matthew Blom.

She was preceded in death by Delmar (2015), her parents, brothers Edwin, Ervin and Reuben Anderegg, sisters Meta, Alma, Amanda, Malinda, and Leona who died in infancy and grandsons Joshua and David.

Viola loved gardening and flowers, sewing and embroidery. Her volunteer work included – Coulee Region Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) – Nutrition Site Worker, 4-H Leader (sewing) for Clark County, Church, Welca, XYZ-Sunday and Bible School teacher. A master baker who loved her grand and great-grand kids best, and always had a supply of fresh baked cookies on hand whenever they dropped by! 

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Olivet Lutheran Church, 2100 Bainbridge Ave, La Crosse. Pastor Kevin Sheldon will officiate and burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
