Mom asked us to let you know her work here on earth is done and it was time to reunite in heaven with her husband and best friend Charlie Ford.
Marilyn Ann Ford of Riverside, CT passed away on December 13, 2024 at the age of 82.
She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years. She is survived by her four children, Charles W. Ford Jr., Catherine (Katie) Ford Mayer, Laverna Ann Ford and April Gurciullo. Marilyn was blessed with six grandchildren: Meredith & Jarod Ford, Margaret & Harry Mayer and Peter and Olivia Gurciullo. She had one Great Grandson, Lucas Gurciullo and a Step Granddaughter Amanda Gurciullo. She was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada on January 14, 1942. Her late parents were John and Catherine McLeod and she was one of 13 children. She came to the United States to work as a Nanny in 1960 where she married Charles W. Ford and settled in Riverside for 62 years.
Known for her beautiful smile and huge heart, Marilyn was “MOM” to so many of her children’s friends who became lifelong faces around her kitchen table. She loved a good game of Yahtzee and a cup of tea. She always had a goody or treat in her purse for anyone she visited, and made everyone feel loved and cherished.
In her retirement, she and Charlie built their dream home in Englishtown, Nova Scotia,Canada where they enjoyed many sunrises, sunsets, lobster feasts and the company of family friends and neighbors.
To quote a verse from our parents favorite Hank Williams song “Beyond the Sunset”:
“We’ve known so much of happiness, we’ve had our cup of joy, and memory is one gift of God that death cannot destroy. “
Please honor our mother’s memory with a smile, and in lieu of flowers or remembrance gifts, we ask that you put a goody or a treat in your purse or pocket and spread the love as Marilyn did.
