On Saturday, December 7th, 2024, Stephen Johnson, loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 78.


Steve was born on July 6, 1946 in Jacksonville, IL to Lester and Margaret (Foley) Johnson. He graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul Minnesota in 1968, followed by Master of Arts from Webster College in St. Louis Missouri in 1981, and had a successful career as a civilian for the federal government ending at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Steve married Jennifer Rymills and raised two children, Matthew and Rebecca, and are proud grandparents of 5 grandchildren.


Steve was well respected by all who knew him, generous to all, and enjoyed giving gifts during all times of the year. Always an avid reader, he particularly enjoyed science fiction and fantasy. He collected and enjoyed many movies. After retirement, he and Jennifer went on many trips to various places around the world, attended concerts with the philharmonic, and built Legos. Steve was a deacon at Meadowood Baptist church, taught third grade Sunday school, tutored at whiz kids, and volunteered at most of the church functions.


Steve has preceded in death by his father, Lester, and his mother Margaret. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, his 2 children, Matthew and Rebecca, and his sisters Sue and Blenda and brother Peter. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City at 10am. Flowers and donations may be sent to Barnes Friedrich Funeral Home.
