Obituary

Brian Keith Copeland, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, on December 10, 2024. Born on June 7, 1965, in Crane, Texas, Brian's life was marked by his vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

A loving husband to Christina Copeland, Brian was the cornerstone of his family. His commitment to his sons, Nathaniel and Matthew Copeland, was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a brother to Richard Copeland and his wife Alisa, and a fun-loving uncle to Alexis, Jackelyn, and Lance Copeland, as well as a great-uncle to young Jax. Brian's warmth, friendliness, and spirited nature left an undeniable mark on his family and a wide circle of friends and childhood companions.

Brian's professional journey was deeply intertwined with the energy sector, where he spent many years working for Morrow Energy until his final days. His career also included significant stints for JW Williams, Orion Pacific and ORREX Plastics. It was through his work that Brian met many of those who would become lifelong friends, sharing in both triumphs and challenges.

Brian had recently accepted Jesus Christ into his life and was an Ordained Minister through the Rose Ministry, finding joy and purpose in marrying couples and deepening his faith. As a father, he was nothing short of dedicated, guiding and nurturing his children with love and wisdom.

Brian's social nature was legendary; he was often described as a social butterfly who thrived in the company of friends and family. His infectious laughter was a staple at gatherings, particularly during cookouts where he relished his favorite pork steak and beans. The bond he shared with his boys was further strengthened by their shared adventures in life, a testament to his playful and youthful spirit.

Music filled Brian's life with joy, and his eclectic taste spanned from the classics of the '50s to the hits of the '80s and beyond. A passionate reader, he immersed himself in the worlds of Science Fiction, with favorites like the original "Dune," "The Lord of the Rings," and the works of Isaac Asimov. His love for literature was not just a pastime but a passion he carried from his days in the Journalism Club in high school, where he also showcased his intellectual skills in the Debate Club and on the Chess Team. Brian's legacy extends to his involvement in sports, where he served as a trainer for football players in Crane, Texas, imparting not only physical training but also life lessons and encouragement.

To say that Brian was loving, friendly, and spirited would be an understatement. He was a man who lived his life with a generous heart, an open mind, and an unshakeable zest for life. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him to live fully and love deeply.
