Millard Gerald Narehood, 86, of Pine Glen, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Born on February 15, 1938, in Pine Glen, he was the son of the late Leonard A. and Genevieve E. (Maney) Narehood. On November 7, 1956, in Zion, he married his great love, Martha N. Confer. Martha survives at home.
Gerald attended the Snow Shoe High School. He was a self-employed truck driver and drove for various trucking companies in the area for over 60 years. He was the Burnside Township Supervisor for 30+ years. After he retired as supervisor, he was still active in the township, giving a hand or advice when he could.
He was a member of the Pine Glen United Methodist Church, Pine Glen Volunteer Fire Company, Quehanna Lions Club, and the Antique Truck Club. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV and camping at many campgrounds. Both he and Martha liked to square dance and listen to music. He also enjoyed his collection of miniature antique trucks.
Gerald loved to see people smile. He was the Mountaintop Santa for over 60 years and through many of those years, he and Martha would be a “Secret Santa” and would give to families that otherwise would not have had a Christmas. He was a very giving and loving man. Family meant a great deal to Gerald, and he loved his family dearly, especially the grandchildren.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters: Brenda M. Johnson and her husband, Claude, of Runville, and Cynthia A. Wensel and her husband, Steve, of Beech Creek; three grandchildren: Sara E. Miller and her husband, Brian, David G. Johnson and his wife, Regina, and Eunice N. Kinley and her husband, Greg; four great grandchildren: Gabriella Kinley, Claire Miller, Brock Kinley, and Alisha Kinley: and two great-great grandchildren: Adalynn and Ella.
He is also survived by one brother, Wilson Narehood and his wife, Phyllis, of North Carolina and one sister, Nancy Narehood-Taylor of State College.
Along with his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Narehood.
There will be a public viewing on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 201 Spring St. Milesburg, Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11am with Pastor Wally Kocher officiating. Burial will be private at Schenck’s Cemetery in Howard.
