Jonesboro- Geraldine H. “Jerre” Spurlock, 92, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born February 8, 1926 in Bay to the late W.W. and Iva Barnes Holmes. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served in several leadership roles including trustee and United Methodist Women. Mrs. Spurlock had also been a member of the Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary. She had served on the board of the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross and PEO Sisterhood. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She is survived by her children, William Spurlock of Jonesboro and Lisa Spurlock Miller of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Hannah Miller of New York City, NY, Rebecca Miller of St. Louis and Adam Miller of Fort Collins, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mabe Spurlock and a sister, Willagene Moore. A celebration of her life will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church Chapel with Revs. John Miles II and Patty Soward officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the church atrium. The burial will be private under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, Bay United Methodist Church or charity of choice.
