It is with great sorrow that the family announces William Ryan "Big Guy" Akapew has begun his journey to the spirit world.

Predeceased by his paternal grandparents Robert Sr & Alma (nee Favel) Akapew; maternal grandparents Jack & Mary Alice (nee Fisher) Kinequon; father William A Akapew Sr; special uncle Robert Akapew Jr.

William is survived by his mother Marlene Akapew (nee Kinequon); sons Johnathan Bellegarde & Thomas Bellegarde (Sahehawe); daughter Kyran Ava Rose Akapew; granddaughters Kaijah, Lovayah & Phoenix; grandson Nekoda; sisters Elizabeth Akapew (Rick), Jennifer (Tex) McNabb, Darlene Kennedy (Howard McKay) and Christen Akapew (Rob).

Left to cherish their time together is his partner Beverly Starr; children Ava, Anayah, Gracie & special grandson Kashtin Akapew; also Wade "King Leroy" & Daxton the Devil; aunts Mary Desnomie, Alita Bigknife, Elsie Kinequon, Doris Starr & Ruth Keewatin; uncles Keneth Akapew, Sidney Akapew & numerous relatives; special friends Kevin Kurek, Philip Bellegarde, Michael Bellegarde, Roy Racette & Clarence Bellegarde.

The family wishes to thank the following:

Specialists, nurses and the dialysis unit at the Regina General Hospital, Doctors, nurses and the dialysis unit at All Nations Healing Hospital in Fort Qu'Appelle, SK, Balcarres EMT, File Hills Police Services, File Hills Health Centre, Little Black Bear First Nation's Band & the Community Centre.

Wake will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 4pm in the Little Black Bear Community Centre. Funeral Services will take place the following day, Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11am in the same location.
