Rick DeHart Obituary

On Sunday, December 1, 2024 Rick DeHart, beloved father, friend and family man, passed away at the age of 72 in his home.

Rick was born on June 23, 1952 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa to Othel and Ethel (Norris) DeHart. He was an Army Veteran, and after retirement worked as an airplane mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base for over 30 years. He had two children, Alisha and Shona with ex-wife Darlene Dowdy and raised a blended family with Kathy, his late wife.

Rick loved being outside! He was an avid gardener-often bragging that “people from all over Oklahoma City” would line up to buy the fruits of his labor. He enjoyed staying active and exercised regularly. He was a military history buff and could tell you anything you wanted to know about the planes-as he made a career out of servicing them. He was known for his quick wit, tough love, and his need for peace and quiet.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Othel, His mother, Ethel, his brother Lonnie, his sister, Rita, and his wife Kathy. He is survived by his daughters, Alisha and Shona, two brothers Curt and Andy, and his sister Donna. He leaves behind several grandchildren, step children, nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.
