TRAVERSE, Josephine - passed peacefully away at Glenbrook Lodge on Monday, December 2, 2024, aged 86 years.

Predeceased by her husband, John Francis Traverse, her parents Lucy and Stephen Shelley; brothers Gerald, Stephen and James Shelley; sister Angela Drover and granddaughter Madeline Strang.

Leaving to mourn her children Kathleen Lewis (Mike) Sackville, NS; Eugene (Leslie) Russell, ON; Juanita Strang, Dundas, ON; Colleen Combden (Brian), St. John’s, NL; Audrey (Aubrey), Corner Brook, NL; John (Becky), Cobourg, ON; grandchildren Pamela (Chad), Amanda, Michael (Ashley), Alex, Jeremy, Steven, Jeffrey, Kimberley (Patrick), Brooke (Jesse), Rebecca, Autumn (Will), Brittany and Julia; great grandchildren Abbagail, Miah, Sydney, Taylor, Oliver, Colin, Westin and Rylynn; brothers William, Thomas and Patrick; and sister Elizabeth, as well as a large circle of relatives and close friends.

The family of Josephine wish to extend a special thank you to the staff and medical care professionals at Glenbrook Lodge for their exceptional care and compassion shown during Josephine’s year long stay at the Lodge.

Visitation will take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Tuesday, December 10, from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday, December 11, from 1 to 3 pm, followed by funeral service from Barrett’s Memorial Chapel at 3:30 pm on December 11.The service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person and the link can be found below. 

As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Josephine’s memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, St. John’s.
