Mrs. Alma Alice Beard, age 94, of Republic, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Sonshine Manor, Republic, Missouri. She was born on April 23, 1924 in Tecumseh, Missouri, the daughter of John William and Dora Alice (Harris) Dougherty. Alma was united in marriage to Tony H. Beard on March 29, 1941 and were together 59 years before Tony passed away on December 22, 2000. Others who preceded Alma in death were her parents; and all of her siblings and their spouses. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Gerald (Pam) Beard, Rita Billows, and Cathie (Stan) Coggin; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Melanie (Casey) Yunger, Lisa (Allen) Shevey, Lori (Jason) Hill, Jason (Michelle) Billows, Brent (Lisa) Billows, Matt (Heather) Billows, Zac (Heather) Coggin, and Beth (Jacob) Nelson; 15 great grandchildren, Carlie and Ali, Coleman, Boone, Ellie, Oscar, and Arthur, Davis and Noah, Brady, Carter, Molly, Paxton, Ruthie, and Ben; and many nieces and nephews. Alma was a faithful member of the Southside Church of Christ until making her home at Sonshine Manor in 2016. She loved being a Mother and Grandmother. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, sewing, gardening, and always helping others. A gathering of family and friends for a memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Hood United Methodist Church in the “Gathering Area”, 139 N. Walnut St., Republic, MO 65738, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. A private burial will be in Wade Chapel Cemetery, Republic.
