Mary Janice Brantley, age 84, of Slaton, Texas and formerly of Muleshoe, Texas, died Friday, November 29, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born December 20, 1939 in Muleshoe to John H. and Myrtle (Stevenson) Puckett. She married Curby J. Brantley in Muleshoe on January 10, 1959.

Mary Janice worked at Mary DeShazo Elemetary School in Muleshoe for 33 years. She enjoyed having her nails and hair done, and going out to eat. She had a great life traveling with Curby. Mary Janice loved her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a wonderful wife, mom and Grandma. She is preceded in death by her husband, Curby; her parents; and two brothers, John H. Puckett Jr. and D.W. Puckett.

Mary Janice is survived by her son, Curby Brantley and his wife, Kay Lynn of Bovina, Texas; her daughter, Stephanie Barrett and her husband, Robbie of Lubbock, Texas; three sisters, Joyce Scott and her husband, Ronald of Muleshoe, Texas, Katherine Mobley and her husband, Bob of Surprise, Arizona and Wilma Nicewarner and her husband, Don of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Eddie Puckett and his wife, Ira Lee of Sweetwater, Texas; a sister-in-law, Patti Puckett of Muleshoe, Texas; her four grandchildren, Zach Barrett and Chandra Jordan, R.J. Kerby and Tyson, Mandy Brantley and Miranda and T.J. Brantley and Staci; nine great-grandchildren, Kylee Barrett, Ashtyn Kerby, Harper Kerby, Slade Brantley, Wes Brantley, Valli Brantley, Caylan Gandy, Cortney Lamb and Casey Coffey; and two great-great-grandchildren, Noelle Gandy and Ryker Lamb.
