Prince, Robert “Bob”
December 17, 1951 – November 29, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert "Bob" Prince announces his peaceful passing on November 29, 2024, at the Timmins & District Hospital. His final days were spent surrounded by love and care.
Born in Timmins, Ontario, on December 17, 1951, Bob lived a life rich in love, laughter, and dedication. He married his soulmate, Suzanne Prince (nee Monette), on November 24, 1973, and together they built a life filled with cherished memories and an unwavering bond that spanned over 51 years. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Prince (nee Monette), and his four devoted children: Kevin Prince, Brian Prince, Keith Prince and Cindy (Gaetan) Allard, all of Timmins. He was a proud grandfather to four beloved grandchildren: Melodie, Felix, Emilie, and Colson, who brought boundless joy to his life.
He will also be dearly missed by his siblings: Mike (Susan) Prince, Lorri (Bill) Prince and Pat Prince, all of Timmins, as well as his in-laws: Romeo (Rita) Monette of Orleans, Fern (Joanne) Monette of Timmins, Roger (Fay) Monette of Timmins, Louise (David) Korpela of Timmins, Juliette (Terry) Del Bosco of Sudbury, and Jean-Pierre (Sylvia) Monette of Carp. His nieces and nephews affectionately knew him as “Uncle Bob,” a title he wore with pride and humour. He cherished the role and was always there to share a laugh, offer wisdom, or brighten their days.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Betty Prince, and his siblings, Joan (James) Davidson, Jim (Patricia) Prince, Dave (Diane) Prince, and Lynn (Sam) Burton.
Bob dedicated his career to Kidd Creek Met Site, where he worked tirelessly and eventually retired, earning the respect and camaraderie of his colleagues. Outside of work, he lived life to the fullest, finding joy in camping trips and family travels, and his time as a committed Boy Scout leader. He treasured the outdoors, helping others, and instilling important values in the next generation, which included his sons.
Bob also enjoyed lively game nights filled with cribbage and "Dammit," and cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. He loved spending time at the casino, playing slots, and sharing stories with friends and family, spreading laughter wherever he went. Bob’s love for storytelling and humor brought joy to those around him and will be dearly missed.
Bob's love for his family, friends, and furry companions, Ginger and Piper, knew no bounds. His quirks, like always answering “yes” to double questions and his ability to make you laugh while keeping a straight face, will be missed but fondly remembered. He had an enduring love for Suzanne’s cooking and all-you-can-eat buffets, a testament to his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate doctors and nurses who ensured Bob’s comfort, dignity and kept his loved ones informed throughout.
A service to honor Bob’s incredible life will be held in the spring at the Miron Wilson Funeral Home in Timmins. The family hopes this timing will allow out-of-town family and friends to attend without the worry of winter driving. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Timmins & District Humane Society, in honor of Bob’s deep love for animals.
Bob, your warmth, laughter, and love will forever be in our hearts. Rest peacefully, knowing your legacy will continue to shine through all who had the privilege of knowing you.
The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins. To make online donations or condolences, please visit www.mironwilson.com
