John F. Newman, 71 of Clinton passed away on Wednesday November 27, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis. Born in Terre Haute, Indiana on April 2, 1953, to Stanley L. Newman and Fannie C. (Stultz) Newman.

Preceding John in death are his parents; infant brother Dennis Newman and brother Walter Newman; mother-in-law Josephine Kelsheimer; brother-in-law Dave Davitto and his wife Judy, and brother-in-law Tom Lewis and his wife Janice.

John graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy #96-125 and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a retired Police Officer, having served our community as an officer for the City of Clinton as well as Fairview Town Marshall. John played in several area bands and was inducted into the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame. He enjoyed participating in the Shop with a Cop program during the holiday season. John attended Solid Rock Baptist Church, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left behind to remember John are the love his life Mary (Kelsheimer) Newman; son John F. Newman II (Jennifer); daughters Angel Hoff, Gina Unger and Amy Lichtenberger (Dave); sisters Mary Jo Archer (Dave), Debbie Pierce and Rose Rogers; grandchildren Dkota, Trey, Quinton, Sandra, Velvet, Nicholas “Mr. Nick”, Donavon,  Nathan, Billie Jo, Brittaney, Nicholas, Bryce, Caden and Camden; eight great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Ray Kelsheimer (Carol), and Richard Paige (Ruth) and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Solid Rock Baptist Church on Monday December 2, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday December 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor George Guinn officiating. Burial will follow at Helts Prairie Cemetery in Hillsdale.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made the Fraternal Order of Police Shop with a Cop in memory of John.
