Miguel Angel Melendez passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 62, Friday November 29th 2024 after a long battle with cancer.
Miguel is preceded in death by his mother Zoraida, his father Miguel, and his sisters Lydia and Aileen. He is survived by his loving wife Doris, daughters Brittany and Alyssa, sons Mason, Michael and Mitchell, and granddaughters Valentina and Eliza, Brother Nelson and sisters Mildred, Janet and Yvette.
Miguel was a very hardworking man. In addition to serving in the U.S Army Reserve, Miguel dedicated 30 years of his life to the NYC Department of Correction. Miguel held many titles during his career including Deputy Warden, but his most passionate role was that of being a father. He loved spending time with family and creating memories.
Miguel has battled cancer for nearly five years. He showed strength and bravery through it all, despite the endless doctor’s appointments, medications and hospital visits, Miguel never lost his sense of humor or enthusiasm. Whether he was telling jokes, fixing something around the house or spending time with family, he never let cancer define him.
Miguel will forever be missed as an honorable man, loving husband, devoted father and a friend to everyone he met. His kind spirit and beautiful personality will never be forgotten.
