Paul F. Masoner, 91, passed away at home on November 29, 2024 after a short illness, with his wife at his side. Paul was born in 1933 to Paul and Hilda Masoner, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was raised in Bellevue and in Ben Avon, PA and graduated from Avonworth High School in 1951. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1955, a distinguished military graduate and commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the USAF. He served on active duty in the United States Air Force, working in the Air Research and Development Command at MIT Lincoln Laboratories on the development of the first computerized air defense system. He achieved the rank of captain.
Following the Air Force, he worked as a technical staff member in the defense industry developing air defense and air traffic control systems. His career expanded to human resources management in high tech, public accounting and consulting, public health and hospitals.
He married his wife, Judy, in 1987. “She is my best friend and my life/love partner forever. I am so proud of her - a caring, loving, giving person.”
Paul is the proud father of three children, Karen Masoner (New Bern, NC), Jeffrey Masoner (Arlington, VA), and Glen Masoner, wife Kim (Kansas City, KS); proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Sarah Gardner, husband Chris (Chesapeake, VA), Jennifer Liesman, husband Matt (Newport News, VA), Anne Kim, husband Hak-Jai (Newport News, VA), and Jack Masoner (Kansas City, KS); and proud great grandfather to seven great grandchildren, Liam and Alaina Gardner, Lorelei and Emilia Kim, and Daniel, Erin and Joshua Liesman. Paul is survived by his brother, David Masoner, wife Barbara (Chattanooga, TN) and predeceased by his sister, Linda Smith (Hampton, VA).
Paul was a member of Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church in Virginia Beach.
Paul requested that upon his passing there be no visitation and no funeral. Following cremation, his remains will be placed in a columbarium at the Williamsburg Memorial Park, in Williamsburg, VA.
