Linda E. Waple, 73, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the lifelong companion of Frances “Tootie” Stephens for over 40 years.
Linda was born on July 23, 1951, in Winthrop, MA and was the daughter of the late John J. and Catherine T. (O’Leary) Waple. She was then raised in East Boston and attended Boston Trade School, graduating in 1970.
After her retirement in 2013, she enjoyed working as a bartender at the American Legion Post #234 in Northborough. She could also be seen driving her 2003 Mazda Miata convertible around town. She enjoyed crocheting and produced many hats and shawls for her family and friends. Linda was an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan. Linda was a faithful parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Parish.
In addition to Frances, Linda is survived by her brothers Robert Waple of Boylston, Edward Waple of Washington State, and James Waple of CT; Tootie’s grandchildren Robino G. Africa of Dudley, Anjelo M. Africa of Shrewsbury, and Miguel A. Africa of Worcester; and several, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sadly, in addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her brothers Bert Waple and William Waple as well as her three loving dogs, Brandy, Sandy and Bellarose.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury on Wednesday, December 4th from 4:00-6:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday,
December 5th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 West Main Street, Northborough. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury.
