Lawrence J. Silvia, 87 of Taunton, passed away on November 29, 2024 after a short illness at his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores (Plasse) Silvia who passed in 2022.

Born in Taunton on May 4, 1937, Lawrence was the son of the late Roger Wilcott Silvia and Genevieve Silvia.

Before retiring, Mr. Silvia was employed with United Parcel Service as a manager for over 25 years.

Lawrence was a proud Navy Veteran where he served as a Yeoman on the U.S.S. Bennington.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their family vacations were his most prized memories. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Lawrence is survived by his loving children, Lawrence G. Silvia of East Taunton, Karen Reardon and her husband Joseph of Mansfield, and Scott Silvia of Taunton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Missy (Derek) Horta, Elizabeth (Dustin) Gomes, Larry, Nolan, Nicole (Nick) Boschen, Olivia (Tim) Gambardella and Shaina, and his great grandchildren Derek, Arianna, Kamryn, Gabriella, Natalya, Cole, and Eloise.

He was also the brother of the late Lorainne Amaral.

Mr. Silvia’s funeral will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 4th from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Taunton VFW, 82 Ingell St, Taunton, MA 02780 in Mr. Silvia’s memory. Lawrence was a proud auxiliary member of the VFW.
