Edward “Sparky” Brendtke, age 87, lifelong resident of Belleville, MI, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, in hospice care, on Friday, November 29, 2024. He was born October 15, 1937 in Belleville, MI, to Alfred and Vera (Baker) Brendtke. Edward “Sparky” was self-employed, as a master electrician. He had a love for playing pool and was a great softball player. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking a pontoon boat out on Belleville lake and relaxing. Edward was also a proud Romulus VFW member, having served our nation in the Navy and in Korea. He will be greatly missed.
Edward is survived by devoted wife of 25 years Rebecca "Becky" (Shippy) Brendtke, daughter Laura Brendtke of Springfield, OH, step-daughter Nickie (Mike) Grange of Freemont, Indiana, 7 grandchildren: Poloma, Shawn, Eric, Kyler (Ashley), Aden, Elizabeth and Grayson, 2 great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Grayson, 2 sisters: Trudy and Graceann and a brother Jerry Brendtke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Randy Brendtke, step-daughter Shannon Gier, as well as 8 siblings: Gladys, Eleanor, Edna, Marie, Alvira, Al, Cal and Gary.
According to his wishes, dignified cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements by David C. Brown Funeral Home, Belleville, MI.
