It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter James Barriault, age 62, who passed away peacefully at home in Musquash, NB, on November 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Peter was born on September 10, 1962, in Saint John, New Brunswick, the son of the late Raymond and Mary Olive Barriault. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Creamer), and daughter, Jenna Roy. He was also a beloved brother to Paul (Carol), and special cousin Donna Belding.  He was a devoted brother-in-law to Connie Daley (Mike), Robert Creamer (Kate) and Jack Creamer (Pam). Peter will be missed by several nieces and nephews. He was also devoted to his fur baby, Sweet Pea.

Peter volunteered for over a decade at the Musquash Volunteer Fire Department, where he was known for his commitment to the community. He also held various city service jobs throughout his life and was a member of the Militia. His contributions to his community and his willingness to help others left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Peter had a deep love for the simple joys in life. He spent many summers enjoying time at Harding's Point Campground, where he spent hours playing horseshoes and relaxing. He also enjoyed puttering around the Pocologan Camp, golfing with friends, and hunting in the great outdoors. Peter was a devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and had an impressive collection of ball caps. Above all, he loved spending time with his wife, who was the center of his world.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Saint John Food Bank, a cause close to Peter’s heart.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at Saint John Regional Hospital, the Extra Mural Team from Charlotte County, and the countless friends who visited, called, helped out, and supported Peter during his final months. Your kindness and support have been a comfort to the family.

Peter will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the honor of sharing in his life.
