Mr. Gary Michael Gillean, Age 72 of, Vermontville, MI passed away on November 29, 2024, in Vermontville, MI.

Gary was born in Dexter, MO, on August 28, 1952, a son of June and Arnold Gillean. Gary spent his early childhood years in Missouri until his family relocated to Standale, MI. When Gary had reached the 11th grade his family relocated to their farm on M66 Highway and he graduated from Maple Valley Highs School. In 1976 he completed his education, graduating from MSU’s agriculture program.

On October 10, 1970, he was married to Diane (Rogers) Gillean and the couple made their home together in the Vermontville area. Gary began farming with his father and continued farming until 1989 when he retired from full time farming and began driving truck. He established his own trucking company hauling everything from fresh cut beans, to eventually hauling various loads all over the United States for over 40 years, finally retiring in 2017. When Diana completed her CDL, the couple enjoyed travelling together, on occasion they would share driving duties.

In his spare time, Gary enjoyed fishing on Round Lake, watching the Detroit Tigers or going to local baseball games, playing cards with his kids and grandkids, and picking on his grandchildren with his very humorous and sometimes acidic humor.

He is survived by his mother June, his beloved wife Diana, his 4 children Gary G. (Virginia) Gillean, Melissa K. Flynn, Kelly (Mike) Williams, Shane (Samantha) Gillean, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 Niece & 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, his brother Sam Gillean, and son-in-law Sam Flynn.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 06, 2024 at 02:00 PM at The Daniels Funeral Home Nashville,

The family will receive visitors, on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 05:00 PM 07:00 PM at Daniels Funeral Home Nashville, then again one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday beginning at 1:00 PM.

Guests are encouraged to remain at The Daniels Funeral Home immediately following the funeral for a time of fellowship and luncheon to continue celebrating the life of Gary Gillean.
