Mrs. Julia Lakes Benson, 82, the wife of Thomas Marion Benson, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2024, at Baptist Health-Lexington.

Julia was born at home on Walter Lakes Road in Madison County, Kentucky on September 1, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Alson and Virgie Lutes Lakes. Julia was a homemaker and was retired from G.E. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Julia was a member of The University Church of Christ in Richmond.

Survivors in addition to her husband include two children: Michael Shannon Benson and Gina Michelle Benson; two grandchildren: Kari Frye Lingafelter (Blake) and Brandon Benson-Henry; two great-grandchildren: Dakota Spanke and Dylan Allen; one brother: Dales Lakes and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Harry Lakes.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Casey officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
