Elaine was a proud graduate of Perry High School, where she began to shape her future with determination and a love for knowledge. Her academic pursuit led her to obtain a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Tech, marking the start of an incredible journey of intellectual discovery. Elaine's insatiable thirst for understanding human interaction with technology steered her towards the University of Michigan, where she earned a master's degree in human computer Interaction and a master's degree in library science. This also led her to obtain her dream job of Engineering Librarian at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Her abiding love for the works of C.S. Lewis was often reflected in her contemplations and conversations, seamlessly blending her passion for technology with the humanities.

Elaine's zest for life was mirrored in her myriad of interests and the joyful manner in which she pursued them. She was an avid bike rider, a nod to her love for being outdoors and embracing the beauty of nature. Her passion for animals knew no bounds, particularly her affection for the German Shepherd breed—this love manifested in dedicated advocacy for their welfare. Elaine's cherished German Shepherd, Riley, who predeceased her.

An accomplished musician, Elaine played the piano since her childhood, allowing music to flow through her life like a melodious thread, enriching the lives of those around her. She also played the clarinet and oboe, which led her to become a cherished member of the Lansing Concert Band, sharing harmonious experiences with the community.

Not just content with musical achievements, Elaine also found kinship and exhilaration as a member of the Lansing Bike Club, joining fellow bicycling enthusiasts in pursuit of shared adventure and camaraderie.

Elaine leaves behind a loving family, her mother Laurene, her brother Greg and his wife Abigail, and her adored nieces and nephews, Austin, Grant, and Grace. Each of them was touched by Elaine's boundless love and will carry forward the legacy of her generous spirit. She also leaves her cousins, Karl and Angela Woodworth, and her very dear friend and bike riding partner, Todd Wiseman.

Elaine was welcomed to eternal peace by her father William.
