Markel Eugene Blankenship, Jr. age 38, of the Coxton Lane section of Thompson Valley, Virginia passed away Thursday (November 28, 2024) in Honaker, Virginia. Born December 28, 1985 in Bluefield, West Virginia, he was a son of Markel Eugene Blankenship, Sr. and Cheryl Denise Taylor Gregory and husband, Clarence. He was a lifelong resident of Tazewell County, Virginia and enjoyed hunting, fishing and music.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Anthony Asbury, Jr.; his maternal grandmother, Aley Geraldine Hatfield and paternal grandparents, June and Lindia Blankenship; cousin, Tony Ray Blankenship.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Kristie Blankenship; daughters, Aley Blankenship “Caroline June Osborne”, Midian Blankenship “Summer Rain Osborne”, Deseree Bugh and husband John Michael, Lilith Meadows and Sabrina Meadows; siblings, Samantha Blankenship, Rosey Blankenship and Ervin Blankenship; his maternal grandfather, Wesley Hatfield; uncle and aunts, Jody Blankenship, Kathy Remines, Lisa Brown and husband, Brian, Linda Smith, Angel Short and husband, Mark, Ann Blankenship and Patty Osborne; his girlfriend, Kristian Azazel Gregori; special friend, Samantha Meadows and several cousins and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Justice officiating. Interment will follow in the Coxton Cemetery in Thompson Valley, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jody Blankenship, Stevie Brown, Brian Brown, Jr., Mark Short, Harley Smith and Michael Smith.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Sunday.
