Gary Dean Hiles, 78, of San Leon, TX died Wednesday morning, following a courageous battle with multiple illnesses. Gary was born on October 24, 1946 to Charles and Betty (Dean) Hiles in Portland, IN, graduating from Dunkirk High School in 1964.
Relocating to Texas in the 1970s, Gary quickly made it his home. He married Linda Ann Williams on Sept 18, 1981. Being a salesman of the highest order, and in every sense of the word, Team Industrial Services put his skills to good use for 34 years. Following his retirement, and still unable to sit still, he formed Gary Hiles Consulting Services.
Gary and Linda spent lots of time on the water, as Gary was an avid fisherman. He was well known in the Southern Kingfish Association, winning many awards and tournaments. Never having met a stranger, colorful conversations and coffee consumed much of his time and energy. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Gary was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife, Linda and children Doug (Julie) Rogers and Amy (Frank) Downing. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Brandy (Brett) Schendel, Joshua (Katie) Downing and Caleb Downing, as well as 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Susan (Clyde) Schache.
Per Gary’s wishes, there will be no services.
As Gary never met a golden retriever that he didn’t like more than people, memorial contributions may be made to the animal charity of the donors choice.
