Danny Lee “Boogie” Lawson, age 73, of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at his home. He was born November 11, 1951, in LaGrange, IN to Forrest and Phyllis (Zion) Lawson. He married Barbara Vasquez on September 9, 1974, and she preceded him in death.

Danny was a long-time mason tender, traveling all over the state to work on jobsites. He enjoyed watching the news and historical programs, as well as reading, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Danny lived his life on his own terms and made sure he enjoyed as much of it as he could along the way. The love of his life, Barbara, would often be the voice of reason on their adventures that would keep him out of trouble. They created a family together filled with love, strength, humor and resilience. Dad had many sayings in his life but I think this one is fitting for his last…..Ain't I a good lookin guy for 73.

Survivors include a son, David Lawson of Hillsdale; daughter, Jolene (Greg) Sheffer of Hillsdale; grandchildren, Griffin Hurst, Jessica Lawson, Gavvin Hurst and Graiddin Hurst; and siblings, Robert Lawson, Randy Lawson, Cindy Champion, Lucy Keegan, Kathy Lonabarger and Julie Creighton as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Becky Lawson, Vickie Burd and Geraldine Fuller.

There will be no services for Danny Lawson at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
