Michael Allan McKenna Obituary

Argyle

Michael Allan McKenna, beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on November

26th following a series of respiratory complications. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Michael was the son of

the late Allan and Florence (Swann) McKenna, and his foster parents, Annette and the late Dean Waite

of Randolph, NY.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Beth (Adams), with whom he shared a lifetime of

love and adventure. Their story began at West Mountain, where they met as ski instructors, forging a

bond over their shared passion for the slopes. Together, they spent countless cherished days skiing,

hunting, fishing, and camping. She was, as he put it, “the catch of his life,” his best friend.

Michael leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including his children, William, Scott (Kim), Shawn

(Keri), and Holly (Josh) Sidebottom, as well as his grandchildren, Hunter, Tanner, Emily, Trent, and

Audrie. He is also survived by his foster sisters, Dianne Newhouse, Louise Freeman and Amy Sharpe,

along with their families, who held a special place in his heart.

Michael will be remembered for his wisdom, curiosity, and the pride he took in everything he did.

Whether it was a project he meticulously crafted, his role as a coach, or the accomplishments he

celebrated—often those of his family, Michael poured his heart into every aspect of his life. He enjoyed

the camaraderie and competition of every sport he embraced, from wrestling in his youth to archery

and tennis later in life. As a lifelong learner, Michael found joy in life’s simplest moments and inspired

those around him with his wisdom and kind heart.

The family will hold a private celebration of Michael’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those

wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to spend time outdoors and foster a love for nature in the next generation.

Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle NY 12809.
