With great sorrow and an abundance of love, the Pischke, Hanson and Koppelman families announce the passing of our brave, caring, and loving husband, father and best Papa ever — Robert “Bob” Pischke — on November 26, 2024. He was surrounded by his family when he left us at 75 years old.
A devoted (and often disappointed) Chicago Bears and White Sox fan, Bob grew up with his four siblings playing baseball in the alley and freezing the backyard to play ice hockey together. In college, he met his best friend and love of his life, Sue. They married in 1973 and welcomed two daughters, Allison and Courtney, in the 1980s. Over the years, Bob enjoyed family gatherings, playing hockey, vacations, his softball league, golfing, supporting his daughters’ sporting or academic efforts, and being with close friends and family.
In 2010, Bob was promoted to the coveted title of “Papa” when granddaughter Clare was born and his heart grew even more when grandkids Luke, Maeve, Oliver and Violet joined the family in years to come. He built them musical stages, attended their games and performances, hosted magical sleepovers, introduced them to the “President’s Game”, and always gave 110% at being the most loving Papa imaginable.
A natural storyteller who lit up every room with his smile and dad jokes, Bob’s joy was being with family and friends. Even during his final weeks, he always put aside his own suffering to ask his daughters, sons-in-law and grandkids about work, school, trips, or their sporting events. Family and loved ones were everything to him, and his legacy, love, and memory will live on in everyone who knew him.
Known as Papa, Bobby, Pablo, and the best dad ever, Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sue (nee Barry); daughters Allison (Jason) Hanson and Courtney (Matt) Koppelman; adoring grandchildren Clare Hanson, Luke Hanson, Maeve Hanson, Oliver Koppelman and Violet Koppelman; brother Randy (Barbara) Pischke; brother Ronnie (Maureen) Pischke; sister Janet (Jack) Anderson; brother-in-law Dominic “Dino” Viverito; sister-in-law Nancy (Al) Osiecki; brother-in-law John (Melinda) Barry; and nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his beloved little sister, Jean Ann Viverito (nee Pischke) and parents Beatrice (nee Snider) and Adam Pischke. He is also remembered by his extended family, dear friends, former co-workers and customers, golf buddies and neighbors.
We will always love you, Bob. L O _ _
