Funeral services for Peggy Ruth Merrill, 71 of Monterey, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Wednesday, December 04, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lone Pine Cemetery, Monterey, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home from 12 noon til 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 04, 2024.

Peggy Ruth Merrill was born on Wednesday, September 16, 1953 and passed away peacefully Friday, November 29, 2024 at her home with her loved ones. She cherished her time with her family, especially her beloved grandsons. In her youth, she shined as a talented basketball and softball player, earning admiration for her athletic abilities. Her love for sports continued as she played in co-ed softball leagues and became an avid bowler, always enjoying the camaraderie of the game. Peggy’s warm spirit and unwavering dedication to her loved ones were the hallmarks of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Peggy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by father, George Allen Byrnes Sr. mother, Annie Rials Byrnes White, and infant son, Lorne Randall Merrill Jr..

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Randy Merrill of Monterey, LA; daughters, Jeannie Archer and her husband Jason of Ferriday, LA, and Lacy Bennett and her husband Daniel of Many, LA; 2 grandsons, Wyatt and Wrett Bennett; brother, George "Spud" Byrnes Jr. of Ferriday, LA; sisters, Georgia Cavin and her husband Butch of Helena, AR and sister, Judy "Noonie" Bordelon of Brookhaven, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dan Merrill, Joey Merrill, Dusty Edwards, Casey Calhoun, Ronnie Calhoun, Marcy Archer and Brian Dale.
