Ridgeley, WV-Roger Boyd Plummer, Sr. 71, of Ridgeley, WV, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at UPMC-Western Maryland.

Born April 26, 1953 in Cumberland, MD, Roger was the son of the late James Oliver Plummer and Eva Mae (Nixon) Plummer. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Carolyn Drubish; and a nephew: Danny Rhodes.

Roger was a graduate of Fort Hill High School Class of 1972 and was also a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked at several places in the area but most recently was employed at Flowerland. Roger was a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, the Cumberland Eagles and the Cumberland Moose. He was a member of the band, “Last Ride.” He loved playing his drums and singing. Roger was a huge supporter of Toys for Happiness. He knew everyone and loved them just as much but more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was watching sports or just being around them and his family.

Roger is survived by his wife of 49 years: Vickie Plummer; his sons: Roger Plummer, Jr. and wife Bridget; and Brian Plummer and wife Judy; his grandchildren: Maria Plummer, Isaiah Plummer, Santana Plummer, Kyler Plummer, MaeLeigh Plummer, and Caniyah Plummer; his great-grandchildren: Zaelynn and Dominic; his bonus kids: Brandon Harden, Travis Lynch, James Dyson, Brian Deal-Turkey; and Tommy Welsh; his brothers: James Plummer and wife Sheila; Edward Plummer and wife Patricia; Richard Plummer; and Pappy Plummer; his sister: Lydia George and husband Ray; special nieces: Sharon and Rachael; his little buddy: Cohen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

A private interment will be held at the Maryland Veterans’ Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff on 5th floor at UPMC-Western Maryland, the Schwab Family Cancer Center, and Dr. Zaman for all the care and compassion given.
