Alton E. Foster Jr., 95, of Thomaston, passed away on November 27, 2024, at Windward Gardens in Camden. He was born on May 22, 1929, to parents Alton E. Foster Sr. and Nancy L. (Moore) Foster.

Alton grew up in Thomaston, receiving his GED in March 1984. He dedicated his working life to the service of others, spending 15 years with the Public Works Department for the Town of Thomaston, 18 years at Consumer First in Belfast, 14 years with the Bangor Daily News, and as a truck driver for Atwood Lobster Co., delivering lobsters.

Alton was a proud lifetime member of the Thomaston Baptist Church, where he devoted over 70 years of his life to worship and service. His unwavering commitment to his faith was evident in his active participation in the church choir, where his voice resonated in harmony with others, lifting spirits and spreading joy through music. For the last 10 years, he also found a home at Harmony Bible Church, where he continued to share his love for Christ and foster connections within the congregation.

He is predeceased by his wife, Melvenia, and his son, Michael Foster, as well as three sisters: Hester Maloney, Virginia Comery, and Maxine Harper.

He leaves behind his son, Joseph A. Harper, and wife Diana of Thomaston; daughter, Belinda Leo and husband Michael of Thomaston; and cherished grandchildren, Jamie and Tony Leo and Jacob Harper.

A private family burial will take place at the Village Cemetery in Thomaston at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harmony Bible Church at 337 Spruce Head Road, South Thomaston, ME 04858, or to Thomaston Baptist Church at 212 Main Street, Thomaston, ME 04861, in recognition of Alton’s unwavering faith and dedication to his churches.
