Barbara Ann Cowley, age 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Virtua Voorhees Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. She was born on August 26, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, to Martin “Bud” and Madeline (Schlachta) Cowley. She was a 1965 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School and 1969 graduate of Holy Family University.
Barbara dedicated fifty years to Archbishop Ryan High School as a Spanish teacher where she affected the lives of thousands of students. She broadened her students world knowledge by leading dozens of trips abroad to Spanish speaking countries including Spain and Mexico. She also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and spending summers at the NJ shore with her friends.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Kathleen Price (Michael), her brother Tom Cowley (Debbie), and her nieces, Keara Price and Jessica Cowley, and nephew Brent Cowley.
Family, friends and others whose lives Barbara touched are invited to St. Martha’s Parish Church, 11301 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, December 7, for a greeting from 9:30AM until her Funeral Mass at 10:30AM to remember and celebrate Barbara’s life. Her interment will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA.
