Rogers Lee Dicks of Coatesville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. He was 90 years old.

Born February 23, 1934, he was known by friends and family as Roger and/or “Sonny”. The youngest son of 14 children of Willie Dicks, Sr. and Hattie Corbitt Dicks, Roger was born in Elko, South Carolina, where he grew up as part of a large farming family and received his early education in the Williston-Elko Public Schools.

During the 1940’s Roger’s family migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he attended and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School with a diploma in tailoring. His mother and father raised the children with knowledge of the Lord. Roger enjoyed listening to Rev. Jimmy Swaggert on the radio.

Roger owned and operated One Hour Cleanerama, providing quality dry cleaning and tailoring services to the community for more than 20 years. When he finally closed the cleaners, Roger began a new career at Lukens Steel and after many years of tireless service, finally retired from his many years of labor. Roger enjoyed a quiet and comfortable retirement, pursuing hobbies, staying up on boxing, a range of sports, and spending time with family and friends.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Wright Funeral & Cremation Services, 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, PA 19320. The viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until the service time. 

The interment will be in New Evergreen Cemetery in Coatesville.
