Ellis Raymond Castello, a resident of Slaughter, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024 at his home. He was 95 years old and was retired from USPS with 42 years of service. Visitation will be at Redwood Baptist Church on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024 from 10am until service at 12pm conducted by Dr. Ron Aguillard and Rev. Joe Hutto. Burial will be in Redwood Cemetery, Slaughter. He is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Mary Ann Kelley Castello. Two daughters, Marion Kelly and husband, Glynn and Kate Castello Falgout and husband Bobby and one son, Michael E. Castello and wife, Nancy. One sister, Mattie Foster. 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter due Summer 2025. 4 Furbabies, Slick, Curly, Buddy and Jim. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Hall Castello, brothers, Jessie, Norman, Burt, Aubrey, Hunter and John Castello and a sister, Mary Castello Lee. Pallbearers will be Andy Castello, James Castello, Brad Lee, Chris Kelly, Seth Kelly and Jason Castello. Honorary pallbearers will be Aubrey L. Castello, C.W. Dunn, Bobby Falgout and Glynn Kelly. Ellis was a graduate of Istrouma High School and attended LSU. He enjoyed cattle farming, gardening, singing gospel music and fishing at his camp in Jonesville, LA. As a Customer Service Representative for the Baton Roue Post Office, he covered most of Louisiana. He was a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable for 3 years. He formed a Postal Customer Service Council in Baton Rouge, many of whom attended the National Postal Forum in Washington D.C. with him. He became a licensed Real Estate agent. During the last 20 years, he and Bobby Falgout became successful at buying and developing land.
